Advocacy – Neha Pancholi
This Committee advocates for support from community members and elected officials to promote the value of the Free Library system and lobby for sufficient budgetary support for the entire library system by attending rallies, visiting legislators, writing letters, and soliciting names on petitions.
Book Case Sale – Martha Fuller
The Bookcase Book Sale is an on-going sale of books, donated by patrons, housed on a set of shelves in the Library. Patrons have access to these during the regular Library business hours.
Book Sale –Beth Hymel and Ann Wiley.
The Book Sale Committee solicits sorts, publicizes, and sells books at the highly acclaimed Spring and Fall Sales, offering both a preview sale to members and a public sale. The Book Sale is a major financial supporter to the Friends.
Building – Rich Matkowski
This Committee made up of community architects, tradespersons and others interested in historic preservation recommends necessary internal/external repairs to our 1913 historic building.
Community Outreach and Engagement – Jenna Musket
This committee networks with community organizations and the East Falls community at large to cultivate a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion. Efforts of this committee are dedicated to increasing the number of library card holders and the circulation of materials; engaging current and potential members in FFSL activities, events, programs, and volunteer opportunities; and finding ways to better serve the interests and needs of the community.
Garden – Nancy Pontone
For the benefit and enjoyment of the community, the garden committee establishes new plantings and maintains the library gardens on Midvale Avenue and Warden Drive. The gardens are award winning from PA Horticultural Society.
Holiday Tree Sale
The Library Tree Sale has been an East Falls tradition for many years, but is on pause this year, 2024.
Hospitality – Marie Filipponi & Mary Jean Cunningham
The Hospitality Committee secures baked goods and other treats from members for various library events, such as the Winter Interlude, Annual Meeting, the Carol Sing, and the Spring Sale.
Membership – Jennifer Ainslie
Membership solicits new members and renews existing memberships. Solicitations go out in May for renewals for the current year but new members can join any time. The membership form is found on our website or at the Library.
Marketing – Connie Gillespie
Marketing coordinates the marketing and publicity for each of the Friends events with specific committee chairs including local print ads, notices to members and flyers.
Social Media
This committee of one keeps the Friends current on social media using the ever growing format to keep users up to date.
Technology – Roger Marsh
This committee maintains the Friends website and membership database.
